From Shop Keeping to Pet Sitting to Virtual Assisting to Health Counseling and Shop Keeping Again!

Tomorrow, I'll be giving my 2 week notice at work. I've accepted a pet sitting position! It's with a local, woman-owned company -- and she only lives a mile away. It's 7-days a week, 3 times a day, but those 3 times is only for an hour or less at a time generally, depending on how many houses I have. It is a risk -- some weeks I'll have plenty of work, and some weeks not so much, but it enables me to work in the area and gives me some free time in every day, which I need for the second part of my news: Mom and I are going in to business together.

We're transforming Mom's company from a check-register-balancing biz to a Virtual Assistant business featuring desktop publishing and bookeeping/accounting tasks. (The business is already set up with all the appropriate licenses etc., so we're just adjusting to the changing market and our needs.) Once the biz is going and we've got some customers, I'll have plenty to do during those off days and hours in between thrice-daily pet walkings. I see the pet sitting as a transitional position that will allow me to get my other business(es) going.

Yes, businesses - my colleague L and I are still hoping to go into business together. So I have lots of options on the table!!! This is going to be a LEAN period financially but the payoff is so awesome, we've got to go for it. In the next couple years I still plan to do Integrative Nutrition and add that to my home business. Can't do it this year (sadly!) but I just have to be patient and get this other stuff going first, and then add it in to the mix.

Good luck C. I hope you get lots of potential client referrals through the network you have joined. Good luck too with your other options.
