OK, so I know I haven't updated in forever, Blogger having been supplanted by FaceBook. But I need somewhere to store and share nursery/baby planning info without sickening half my facebook friends who could care less. LOL! So, here I return, back to Blogger again!
The E.P. and I are looking to create a Japanese inspired DC-tidal-basin-cherry-blossom-festival theme in the baby's room (which s/he is free to change when s/he's older lol!) I've been looking around for concepts and pieces and I don't want to forget this link:
Amazon.com: Noren This is just a great visual presentation of different Noren, some that I'd love but are too pricey. But if I can approximate these styles or just draw inspiration from here, that'd be great!
I'm also eyeing VERY AFFORDABLE bamboo blinds on ebay, and may buy in the next week, but I want to be certain that that's what we want first (and measure the windows again LOL!)
Japanese rooms are usually neutral with colorful fabrics on the walls, in the windows or as the doors. Here's a nursery that is Japanese inspired (somewhat). I know I want to do a DC tidal basin mural on the wall... but as I may not have the time to paint one, I might compromise with affordable fabrics (if available). I also know that I do NOT want to do a Japanese-inspired theme-ala Fisher-Price's "Zen" collection!! Those colors are pukey lol! Hmm hmm hmm, A lot to think about and do! =D
BTW, if you're not on facebook and out of the loop: Babe's not due 'til August. I'm trying to get a head start while I have energy and am not slowed down much by the baby girth and weight! =D

I like the link you made to the nursery - in the comments it mentioned the tree branches on the wall were a stick on decal from IKEA. Might be worth finding out if they still sell that item as it looks so pretty. Hope you're feeling well.
Definitely check out IKEA. I had cheap bamboo blinds (like $6) from there. The down side was that they did not keep the room very dark.
Thanks so much for your suggestions guys! =D
Pup,
I loved the cherry blossom wall decals in the nursery you linked to. Here are a few other decal ideas:

Do a search for "wall decal cherry" and there are tons for inspiration. For DIY, I could totally see you painting in branches and using a small sponge or stencil for your blossoms.
