A Bit Overwhelmed, but Happy

Another quick update -- I plan to catch up on all my online/paperworky-type tasks later, right now I'm concentrating on unpacking and prepping the enormous quantity of baby items we have acquired this weekend!!!

Still Taking It All In
This past Saturday was the big baby shower. It was incredible! I've never experienced such generosity exhibited by friends and family toward us, on behalf of our little one. It's gonna take an entire day to write the thank yous. We are truly grateful!!!

As to the event itself, my friends J&P outdid themselves, and I'll blog more about it later. (I do wish there had been more time/we'd been able to schedule the start time earlier, as I didn't have enough time to catch up with a bunch folks that I really wanted to.)

Taking Advantage of the Weekend While We Can
Yesterday, The E.P., Gigi and I spent the afternoon at Babies 'R' Us. We decided rather last-minute that it was a necessary major shopping trip, as there is the real likelihood that the baby could come before we get another chance to get out there. So we made the trip and purchased everything we could think of, still needed, that we Have To Have before we bring baby home from the hospital. It was exhausting!!!!

So today, I not only have piles of items from the baby shower to prep and place (including piles of cardboard and boxes for recycling) but all the stuff we bought yesterday. I can't believe we managed to get around the store with just one cart haha! We had to get a second to make it out to the car -- into which we just barely fit everything. We still have a few items to pick up in the next week (2 at the most) that BRUS doesn't carry, but if the unexpected happens, we can totally make do without for a few days. We splurged on one item that technically we don't have to have: a pair of Halloween pumpkin baby booties!!!! (Actually, The E.P. talked me out of them, but Gigi bought them for us!! Haha!! Too cute!!!!)

Speaking of Gigi, she was a huge help yesterday. She had a blast putting together the stroller - including all the attachments and assembling the car seat adapter. She also did a ton of laundry for me, including hand washing tiny tights and onsies whose deep colors would bleed into all the pastels without a good pre-washing! THANKS MOM!!!!

Quick Baby Activity/Maternity Update
She's riding high after a brief stint dropped low - so happy she moved back up. She kicks a lot! HARD - harder every few days. Braxton-Hicks (generally painless practice contractions) just yesterday started to get quite a bit stronger to my surprise. Of course, my body decides to "practice" while I'm trying to waddle through BRUS without collapsing. Haha!

Still Floored: 3rd Baby Shower to Come!
I am still just flabbergasted that some of the ladies at church want to hold a 3rd baby shower for us, after the baby is born. !!! !!!! !!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!! We've only been attending for 7 months or so, and members since this past spring, and haven't had the opportunity yet to hang out with anyone outside of church events. Plus recently I keep missing church because of work or other events or just being plain exhausted. Anyway, this is my way of saying I'm totally flattered and really never expected them to do anything for me, but am extremely grateful and looking forward to the opportunity to get to know them all better!!!! =)

OK, the washer and dryer have both shut off, it's time to go fold sheets and stick another load in... talk you ya'll later!
