I know, I know, I always say this: WOW, So much has happened since I last spoke with you guys!!! But you know what --> I always frickin' mean it. A LOT really has happened.
Life started pulling me offline again when the job started getting marginally stressful and requiring more of me. Long story short, my resume is in for the position of Director, and things that were making the job environment uneasy and weird are now resolved (as of the end of last week). Now I'm working hard but I have purpose again and am back to enjoying myself! Yay.
Then came Christmas. What a holiday! We got a live tree (James' first ever) and thoroughly enjoyed it and all our tacky decor. For the day itself, we went to Erie to stay with his parents. All of our parents were very generous to us this year (they always are, fortunately for us!) and we raked it in. =)
Yes, things were very happy indeed - too happy, one might say, as it all came crashing down on us shortly after New Years. You see, we found out that I was pregnancy on Christmas Eve. Oh, Happy Happy Day!!!! Much marvelous quality time was spent over the next week dreaming and planning and being together, and waiting until it was right to start telling people (and telling a few!) But sadly, we lost the pregnancy a couple weeks ago.
I tell you all this because we had No Idea how common early miscarriage is until it happened to us. And - if you are someone who is ever planning to have or have more kids - it seriously softens the blow to know about it -- because it's common. 30% of all pregnancies. One-third of them all.
I'd read books, talked to my Mom in detail about pregnancy and childbirth, talked to plenty of other women too, and even been to the Doctor to talk about preconception -- and noone said boo about it. In fact, everyone and every piece of media I learned from about pregnancy pretty much said "You're young, you're in moderately good health, you'll be fine!!! Get pregnant and the rest will take care of itself." My Doc was really optimistic to the point of nonchalance about it. So, needless to say, we were shocked and horrified when events rapidly changed only a week and a half after we'd found out. So now we Know.
We are doing really well, no worries! We took the time to grieve and be together and go through it together. We understand that these things happen. I've since spoken with a number of women much older than I who all have had multiple miscarriages - and all have raised healthy children. And we know that our equipment works, even if not every package will be delivered. So life goes on, and so do we, a bit wiser, but not the worse for wear.
So now you know pretty much how my life has been the past 2 and one-half months. And how have you been? =)

Wow Pup! What a crazy few months it's been for you. I'm so sorry to hear of the miscarriage, but it sounds like you are both doing really well. Thank you for the information too, that's really good to know. I hope you are both around on Feb 24th for my birthday party (more info forthcoming) but if not, let's go see a movie or have dinner or at the very least coffee/tea soon! Sending you a very large hug. :D
