More Housecleaning Needed

If you know me at all, then you know that I'm constantly rearranging or in some was upgrfading my house, trying to make it better for me and my partner. My attempts to better meet our flow or to make things more convenient, so I try again. This past year though, it's become clear that for all its amenities, our one bedroom apartment is a pain in the butt when it comes to making things convenient for both of us. And those things that cane be done to make real improvement, rather than incremental changes, require monetary investments that we just can't make right now. Yeah, a new set of tall study wall-leaning bookcases (one with a flip-down laptop desk), a smaller couch, a slim armoire of some kind, and a conversion of one hall closet into an office storage unit would make a dramatic difference, but we have to make do with what we've got for now. Next year, next year. Le sigh.

But hey, I did get us an umbrella stand last week at 70% off, and we're getting a second microwave stand for the kitchen (for our new toaster oven - the one we have is for our large cutting board.) It's a start!

The Truth Comes Out
Actually, you know what I really want: a new boom box for the bedroom. We have a CD alarm clock in there, but the sound quality is horrible for just listening (for an audiophile like me) and the radio reception is incredibly spotty, with truckers and military folks on radios cutting in. But since we have the CD radio clock in there, I haven't done anything about it, although I really miss having quality music in my meditative space.
