A good friend of mine sent me these two articles on the topic of tracking changes on the neutral web-cyclopedia Wikipedia, and their trustworthiness. Wikipedia is an online encyclopedia to which anyone can upload and change entries, in the hopes that by being overseen by the public at large, it will become less biased and more thorough than any other encyclopedia.
The first article discusses a computer program that attempts to mark the validity of Wikipedia entries.
The second article looks deeper into who is updating the entries: changes to the entry on Sinn Fein made from the Vatican's IP address, changes to the Iranian President's entry from the CIA.
As a CCT graduate, I have to say, scary, but not unexpected of unprecedented - all technology introductions follow certain patterns, as does social behavior.
